Roger Loesch Obituary

Roger Dean Loesch, 61, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away January 20, 2026, at his home. He was born April 9, 1964, in Lyons, the son of Delbert and Pat (Stricklin) Loesch. Roger was a lifelong Rice County resident. He graduated from Chase High School, Chase, Kansas, with the class of 1982 and received his certificate in Auto Collision and Refinishing Technology from Salina Area Technical College. Roger worked at Lyons Salt Company from 1990 until his retirement in 2015 as the head explosive technician. After retirement, Roger helped his brother, Kent with farming. He enjoyed working on and racing his Mustang, guns, going to his children’s activities and most of all spending time with his family. On June 27, 1992, Roger was united in marriage with Rachel Steffan in Chase. Roger is survived by his wife, Rachel Loesch of Lyons, KS; two daughters, Mikayla Pottorff (Chavez) of Wichita, KS, and Cassie Loesch (fiancé Dakota Letourneau) of Wichita, KS; two brothers, Kent Loesch (Val) of Raymond, KS, and Rick Loesch (Teasha) of Garden Plain, KS; sister, Debbie Bach of Ellsworth, KS; two grandchildren, Elliana and Juniper; mother-in-law, Della Steffan of Lyons, KS; and numerous nieces and nephews. Roger is preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law, Jerome Steffan; and brother-in-law, Doug Bach. Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M., Friday, January 23, 2026, at Raymond Baptist Church, Raymond, with Rev. Teresa Lahar officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M., Thursday, January 22, 2026, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons, with family present. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Rice Community Healthcare Foundation in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
